About Speakeasy

Speakeasy provides training in English or French for all ages and levels, in a group or individual setting.  Lessons are pitched to suit the participants' needs and ability, but the emphasis is on having fun while learning.

As well as a structured class room environment, we also provide

• an extensive library of books and CDS
• cultural and fun events - music, art, fêtes and field trips
• The Rolling Scones - international open house at Speakeasy HQ every Monday morning!  Join us for scones and a chat.
• Expat food - craving a nice cuppa? or marmalade on your toast?  we've got it!

But there's more!  

The SpeakEasy Club has regular events throughout the year.  Thanks to our enthusiastic members, we have concerts, drama workshops, cookery classes, a photography club and a book club.  On top of this, we have occasional guest speakers/instructors who cover a wide range of topics, from singing to photoshop to social media.

Meet the Staff :

All our staff are native English speakers.

Gabi

Director of Speakeasy, Gaby has been teaching English for ten years.  Her speciality is fluency practice.  Resourceful and creative, her classes are always dynamic and her students gain confidence quickly.

Lawrence

Lawrence's speciality is ESP - English for Specific Purposes.  Engaging and motivating, Lawrence's unique approach is greatly appreciated by his students.  His years on the stage have given him a tremendous ability to improvise and role play, helping his students integrate their new vocabulary.

Jude

Jude regularly takes over from Gabi in our workshops and runs one-to-one training when required.  Jude loves working with children and young adults and runs our Kids Workshops on Wednesdays.

Eddie

Eddie works full-time for the French Aviation Authority, training Air Traffic Control staff, in France and abroad.  If we need to get a group of students up to speed rapidly in a specific area, Eddie is our man!
